    Bio My clinical focus is the care of people across the age spectrum from adolescence to menopause. I attend to both Obstetric and benign Gynecologic needs in both ambulatory and hospital settings. I strive to provide a holistic approach to consultations for full-scope benign Gyn medical and surgical problems. In my practice of clinical medicine, I strongly value the role of education across all levels, including medical staff, students, resident physicians, patients and their families. I emphasize effective communication, professionalism, and inclusive patient-centered care.

    I am actively involved in national and international programs that focus on teaching medical students, residents and faculty. Since completing my residency training, I have worked regularly in international low-resource settings. I have served as Visiting Clinical Faculty in Thomonde, Haiti; at Hospital Nacional Juan Jose Ortega in Coatepeque, Guatemala; and at Orotta School of Medicine in Asmara, Eritrea. I have completed emergency OBGYN field assignments as a clinical consultant for Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Sierra Leone and South Sudan. I work as a consultant for an academic partnership with the University of Colorado School of Public Health to train local traditional birth attendants, and have developed a long-term partnership to augment the local OBGYN residency program in Coatepeque in the southwest Trifinio region of Guatemala. I was the 2015 Research Fellow in the History of American Ob/Gyn at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in Washington DC, where my research focused on the evolution of the management of postpartum hemorrhage in the US from 1903-1940.

    My ongoing scholarly activity focuses on methods of incorporating the study of the history of medicine into strategies to decrease maternal mortality, and designing medical education curricula in global health for trainees from high-resources settings, and adapting and supporting medical education curricula for trainees in low-resource settings.

    Bio Dr. Sally Greenwald is passionate about empowering her patients with information, providing them with accessible and honest counsel, and encouraging them to value their health and be their best selves.

    Her areas of medical interest and specialty include partnering with adolescents to define a positive sense of reproductive health, preconception counseling, surgical management of benign gynecologic conditions, and supporting pregnancy as a natural process. She’s excited to care for the women of the community that raised her.

    Outside of work, she enjoys playing with her baby boy (Arnie), traveling with her husband (Dan), cooking, and hiking The Dish.

    Bio Paula J. Adams Hillard, M.D., is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Stanford University School of Medicine where she serves as Associate Chair for Medical Student Education. She earned a B.S. in Zoology from the University of North Carolina and obtained her M.D. from Stanford University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in OB/Gyn at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She was on the faculty at the University of Virginia, and served as Professor in the Departments of OB/Gyn and Pediatrics at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital (CCHMC) /University of Cincinnati Medical Center for 23 years. At CCHMC she was the founder of a postgraduate fellowship training program in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. She currently directs the program in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford.

    She has been active on a number of national medical committees, including chair of the American College Obstetricians and Gynecologists' (ACOG) Committees on Patient Education, Adolescent Health, and Guidelines for Women’s Health; she is a past member of the Gynecologic Practice Committee, the Gynecology Document Review Committee, and the Ethics Committee. She was been an examiner for the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists from 1991-2015. She is a Board Member of the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics, and was elected a fellow of the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society. She is a past president of the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, and is an active contributor to the literature in adolescent gynecology and contraception with over 200 journal articles and abstracts published. She serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. She is the sole editor of two textbooks: the 5-Minute Consult in Obstetrics and Gynecology (2008) and Practical Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (2013). She is the author of over 120 book chapters on women’s health. She has been a consultant and a member of tasks forces and committees for the CDC, the U.S. FDA, the NICHD, the AMA, American Cancer Society, and ACOG. In addition to her work as a member of editorial boards and as an ad hoc reviewer for professional publications, Dr. Hillard has extensive experience with the consumer press. She was a contributing editor to Parents magazine from 1982-1990, writing a monthly column on pregnancy and birth--and currently acts as an editorial consultant to women’s publications such as Good Housekeeping, Family Circle, Woman’s Day, Cosmopolitan, Redbook, Glamour, YM, and Seventeen, as well as ABC News. She is a consultant to and a member of the medical advisory board of Clue, a menstrual cycle tracking app. She has been recognized for her teaching, and has been selected as one of 18 senior faculty master teachers/mentors for medical students at the Stanford University School of Medicine in a formal mentoring program called Educators for CARE: Compassion, Advocacy, Responsibility, and Empathy.

    Bio Juno Obedin-Maliver, MD, MPH, MAS, FACOG, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Stanford University School of Medicine.

    Dr. Juno Obedin-Maliver is a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist who provides excellent clinical care and strives to advance scientific knowledge through her research.

    She practices full-spectrum gynecology including outpatient, in-patient, operative, and emergency care services. This specifically includes collaborative management of cervical dysplasia and abnormal pap smears, abnormal uterine bleeding, contraception and family planning, pelvic pain, abnormal discharge, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, and more. She specializes in the gynecological and reproductive health care needs of sexual and gender minority people which include but are not limited to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ+) people. This interest and experience drives her research interests towards promoting the health and well-being and equity of LGBTQ people.

    Dr. Obedin-Maliver, is the Co-Director of The PRIDE Study (pridestudy.org), a multi-site online prospective longitudinal cohort of sexual and gender minority individuals based at Stanford. She also serves on the medical advisory board of the University of California San Francisco Center of Excellence for Transgender Health and is helping to author the next version of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care. Dr. Obedin-Maliver has also been active in health policy including involvement in helping to legally redefine consideration of sexually intimate partner status and to remove the Medicare Non-Coverage Determination ruling on gender -affirming surgeries.

    Bio Dr. Shorter specializes in complex family planning, early pregnancy management, and general gynecology. She is committed to improving the continuity of care for patients with early pregnancy complications and serves as the Director of the Early Pregnancy Assessment Program. Her clinical research interests include improving patients’ experience with abortion and early pregnancy care, addressing reproductive health disparities, and promoting health equity.

    Bio Dr. Harise Stein has multiple clinical, teaching and administrative roles at Stanford in addition to her private practice in Mountain View.

    -- Stanford Physician PRN Support Program (wellmd.stanford.edu/get-help/prn-support.html), having served as an initial member of the peer support program, a peer support trainer, author of the peer support manual and program Director for several years, she has now stepped down to a peer supporter. In addition, for 8 years, up until January 2019, she served as the WellMD Newsletter editor, and was the creator and webmaster for the WellMD website (wellmd.stanford.edu). She is a frequent speaker on topics of burnout and resilience for medical and community groups.

    -- Founder and Co-Chair of Stanford Family Abuse Prevention Council, teaching medical and community members about the health effects, recognition and management of partner and family abuse. She has created Stanford websites for domestic abuse (domesticabuse.stanford.edu), child abuse, elder abuse and human trafficking, as well as a monthly abuse research summary (abuseresearch.info) that goes out to a large national and international audience of clinicians, researchers, advocates and policy makers. In addition, she served for seven years as a Commissioner for on the Santa Clara County Domestic Violence Council and has been a member of the LPCH Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect Committee since its formation.

    Through her many years of caring for patients and fellow physicians, she has come to believe that the most important root factor in health and well-being is the power of relationships - how family members treat each other, the impact of an optimal patient-physician interaction, and the support of medical colleagues by and for each other and their relationship with their institution.
