Saswati Karmakar obtained her undergraduate degree in Biotechnology at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi. She pursued her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, working on the molecular characterization of pancreatic cancer stem cells and their contribution to cancer initiation and progression. Then, she moved to Stanford University with the National Cancer Institute's F99/K00 award for a postdoctoral position in Monte Winslow's lab. Saswati's current research explores the role of tumor suppressor genes in pancreatic cancer pathogenesis.
